The Bishop Savaryn Virtues Project

|
As children grow from infancy to adulthood, they need to acquire certain character-strengths: sound judgment, a sense of responsibility, personal courage, and self-mastery. These habits of mind and will and heart have traditionally been called the virtues. Children internalize these lifelong habits in three ways: |

This year at Bishop Savaryn School we have decided to focus on a different virtue for each of our monthly assemblies. Over the year we will focus attention on several virtues. Students will be encouraged to develop and practice values that encourage ethics, integrity and love. They will work on developing fuller spiritual lives. The chosen virtue is then a topic of focus for the month in all grades, in various classes. These classes could be religion, art, CFL, and Language Arts. Each grade has been encouraged to take part in a special way during one of the assemblies. Children have shared drawings and performed skits based of the virtue of the month. Student prayers, stories, pictures and poems will be posted to our web site throughout the year. |

The teachers at Bishop Savaryn School have found the book: The Family Virtues Guide by Linda Kavelin Popov a valuable resource.
